This bummed me out.
Hope everyone is well. Been out of town for too long but will be making a comeback soon. Not in Reeboks.

Totally disagree

Okay, I'm not a big commenter and don't want to distract from the real purpose of the comment section, but I really disagree with this comment. I am posting anonymously, but I will let Jeff and Mollie know who I am.

This sponsorship, and the broader commercialization of Crossfit, is a natural progression for a successful business model that has achieved scale. More importantly, it is what enables people like Mollie and Jeff to earn a decent living doing something they love to do. Not to mention the fact that they are helping a lot of people that otherwise would be lost as far as their fitness and general health is concerned. I desperately want Jeff and Mollie to be successful with CrossfitNOLA precisely because I feel so strongly about the benefits of the Crossfit methodology AND lifestyle/community.

There are a lot of good and bad things about the way Crossfit as a business is being executed, IMO, but one huge positive is the fact that it is not a franchise system. That leaves it up to the individual affiliate to execute their own business model and maintain the integrity of the community. Anyone who's been to a few different boxes knows that this execution can vary significantly.

I will not be the guy that comes in all decked out in Reebok gear, but I do want their campaign to be successful so that it trickles down to the affiliates. To me, it would not be as much fun if Jeff and Mollie were struggling to make the box work just so Crossfit could maintain some "underground cult" feel. Again, that is up to the individual and the affiliates. Besides, if it gets too commercial and watered down, people will just vote with their feet. They always do.

Please don't take this offensively, Tess. I hope you and everyone else understand that I am just presenting an alternative perspective. I hate it that people are actually paying attention to this kind of drivel.

@Tess, don't be bummed. Gawker's a bunch of bottom feeders that profit from hating for a living. Their opinion is meaningless.

Well said Anonymous. I think as long as Crossfit Nola stays afloat, who cares what the image of Crossfit is. I personally dont like the graphic t's and the boarder shorts but the methodology and results is what brings me in. Crossfit will always stand for that no matter who is throwing them money.
