a story from Jeff about the Whole Life Challenge experience:
In fall 2012, my mom expressed concern that she was not happy with her body and health and fitness lifestyle. She had suffered from sarcoidosis (an inflammatory condition), and was on a number of prescription drugs . Since her birthday was coming up, and since I am such a loving son, I got her a gift of the Whole Life Challenge. I told her in an email that I got her a birthday present, but she is going to have to work for it. She was reluctant to say thanks and even agree to do the challenge, but after reading the rules and talking herself into it, she decided to give it a solid try. She did preliminary workout by herself in Northern Michigan, with my dad timing her and counting her reps. During the challenge, she ate a little differently and exercised a little more. The weight came off quickly at first, but then progress slowed. My advise was to focus on the daily challenges and less on the scale. After the challenge was done, she had lost inches, improved on her workout and showed improved blood chemistry (which had to be done with regularity due to the above mentioned sarcoidosis). She actually finished atop the CrossFit NOLA leaderboard, of which we were quite proud. Since the first challenge, she has done the Whole Life Challenge with the CrossFit NOLA team every time we have run it (she is signed up again, despite being on vacation for a large portion of the challenge). Not only has she stuck to the rules meticulously, but she has lost inches every time. She routinely has friends and acquaintances ask her what she has been doing, and has a role model among her peers. She has also reduced some and stopped some dosages of drugs that she has been told she will always have to be on from her disease.
The Whole Life Challenge changed her life. I have no doubt that she is living a healthier and happier life and we are proud of her accomplishments. I highly encourage you to sign up for the Whole Life Challenge. It has the potential to change your life and you deserve it!
