First Member Spotlight: Vil Vaitaitis

Hey CrossFit NOLAers! Every few weeks the CrossFit NOLA coaches will be picking one member to highlight!  After lots of contemplation, we finally decided on our first member to spotlight…Vil Vaitaitis. Vil is a second year medical student at LSU and she spared some free time to chat and tell us a little about herself. 

How did you hear about CrossFit and what was your first experience/WOD?
 I first heard about CrossFit while I was in California. A friend that was a personal trainer learned about it and started to teach me CrossFit.

When did you first come to CrossFit NOLA?
 I first came to CrossFit NOLA in November of 2011. I dropped in on a Friday evening class that Damian was teaching. All I remember was that the class did a ton of pistols and I tried a lot of pistols.

What CrossFit accomplishment are you the most proud of?
  I am most proud of my first unassisted pullup! Before CrossFit I never could do a pullup and now I can!

If there was any CrossFit movement that you could choose to never do again, what would it be?
Wallballs [no hesitation there]!!! They just suck and I’m not very efficient at them. 

After a hard workout, what is your favorite meal?
 I love getting frozen yogurt from Yogurtland [author’s note: after the Whole Life Challenge is over, Kels and Vil will be getting froyo and all are welcome to join]. 

On a Saturday night, where could we typically find you?
 Studying at Starbucks (Vil is a 2nd year at LSU Med). 

What is one goal that you are currently working on that you will accomplish before the end of 2012?
 I’m doing the 100-day double under challenge and my goal is to have 10 double unders consistently by the new year!
